Frizette

On a recent trip to Eygalieres Provence, France we learned a new trade, how to make a frizette with lavender.  These sweetly scented jewels are easy to make and make great gifts.  here are the quick and easy directions.

Supplies needed:  Scissors, 40-100 stems of lavender (depending on how large you would like your frizette to be) and ribbon.

Directions:

1. Cut and count your lavender and then arrange the stems so that all the flowers end in the same place.

2. Tie you ribbon (approximately an arm's length) in a tight not at the bottom of the flower buds so that the lavender is in a bushel. Leave a tail long enough to tie a bow at the end.

3. Bend all the stems backward over the buds

4. Dividing the stems by 3, 4, or 5 stems per weave, begin working one end of your ribbon: over 4, under 4, over 4, under 4, etc.

5. Continue this pattern weaving tightly all the way around until you have reached the bottom of the bunch.

6. Wrap remaining ribbon and tie a bow with the end.
